TAX COLLECTOR’S LEGAL NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS CITY OF ANSONIA
Notice is hereby given to all taxpayers liable for payment of property taxes to the City of Ansonia on the grand list October 1, 2019. The second installment of Motor Vehicle, Personal Property, and Real Estate taxes, and the first and only installment for Motor Vehicle Supplemental are due and payable January 1, 2021, and become delinquent after February 1, 2021.
Deferment Program - Taxpayers who apply and are approved for this program will be granted an extended grace period. The original tax delinquent date of February 1, 2021 will extend to April 1, 2021. On April 2, 2021, the interest rate will revert back to the statutory 1.5% per month from due date if payment is not received in full. Deadline to submit application and proof is February 1, 2021.
Low Interest Program – This program reduces the statutory interest to all taxpayers from 1.5% to .25% per month until March 31, 2021 for January billing on the 2019 grand list only. On April 1, 2021, the interest rate will revert back to the statutory 1.5% per month from due date if payment is not received in full.
Failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax, interest and penalties accrued. Late payments will be subject to interest from January 1, 2021 at the rate of 1.5% per month, 18% per annum, with a $2.00 minimum interest charge in accordance with the provisions of the General Statues of Connecticut, Section 12-130, 12-145, and 12-146.
Payments may be mailed to PO BOX 150509, Dept. # 000020 Hartford, CT 06115-0509, or paid online at www.cityofansonia.com. A drop box is also available for check payments only and is located in the driveway between City Hall and Veteran’s Memorial Park. Any payments dropped off in the drop box after office hours on the last day of the month will be considered late and interest and/or penalties will be charged. Cash payments are accepted by appointment only.
Make checks payable to: Tax Collector, City of Ansonia and receipts will be returned to taxpayers that include a self-addressed stamped envelope with their payment.
